Well, at 99,880 miles on the 97 Sub, the original Delco battery finally shook hands with Elvis! Didn't quite make the 100k mark, and has been giving me fits for a few months now. Mrs. BLUE went out to start her Sub this morning and nothing, nada, zip, not even a tick! Tried to jump start with my truck and no luck. Put the charger on and charged for 4 hours, and with the turn of the key there was complete silence (unless you include the few choice 4 letter words that I mumbled).

So, I got on the phone, checked on prices around town and within an hour I had a new(very attractive I might add) Optima Red Top for ?.  Of course after cleaning the terminals and inspection of the recently installed brass terminal posts, I connected the Optima and it cranked right up. Steady 14+ on the gauge. Hopefully, with fingers crossed this will be the last of the leaking, corroding, alternator-killing battery I'll have to contend with for quite a while.

BTW, when I took the old Delco in for the core it was leaking from the positive terminal (not surprised since this is essentially what lead to the corrosion and load dumping onto the alternator which eventually killed it)and only got a reading of about 10v. Glad it happened in the garage at home, and also a bonus since it happened to Mrs. BLUE, I was able to justify the price of the "pretty little battery" as she put it. ;) If any of you need to replace a battery, I highly recommend the Optima, also have a Red Top in my truck and use a yellow top in the boat, pricey but worth it!

I'm running a Red Top in my truck as well.It was definitely a good investment with the winch.

I just wish I could have gotten the use out of my Delco that you got from yours.

Yeah, guess I can't complain too much, original battery 99K and 4 years including Michigan weather swings.  But, did wreak havoc on the pos. post and surely was the cause of my alternator going out.  You guys make sure not to overtighten that positive dual set-up, the lead spacer will compress and the 3/8 bolt will eventually bottom out in the side post and cause poor connection.  Had this problem on 3 trucks now!

      Can ask that about a lot of places.   Holiday sells 91 for $1 over 87 octane. BP 93 is 80 cents. Amoco 93 is 80 cents Kwik Trips is $1.20 for 92 or whatever they have and $1 for the 91.   I know that this is not exactly same as what you are saying with the premium to premium debate of those two stations but why is there such a difference. Top Tier this and that, it's all BS. All the fuel comes from the same damn refinery, so give me a break.

      Why does Mobil Premium cost 90 cents a gallon more than Shell Premium when their regular offerings are but pennies apart?

      Was all the way down to $3.69 a gallon but then jumped back to $3.99 just because for some reason.   Diesel floats between $4.80's to $5.10ish a gallon. I even saw Diesel #1 for $6.09 today but nobody in there right mind even buys that in the summer.

      Mine just keeps lagging or getting stuck on the reverse camera. When I turn off the truck, get out, and close the door it will still stay on. It’s very intermittent and I would not be able to duplicate the issue.

      I was checking out fuel prices at my farm fuel retailer at their pumps and yes the farm price is a bit lower than the non dyed fuel and was glad to see that the regular farm gas price has dropped a lot from what it had been but what blew me away was the price of diesel as the spread now compared to before the prices went up earlier in the year, diesel was actually slightly lower than gas which was a switch from the theme the last number of years. However that sure isn't the theme lately and definitely not right now. The prices I will post are not from that retailer but just looking at gasbuddy for the main city in this area and instead of posting the lowest price someone found I will list the higher price ( and that may not be the highest price, just whatever someone posted on gasbuddy ).   So regular gas and there are a lot of stations listing the same price for regular is 1.68 a liter, premium 2.00 a liter. Diesel 2.03 a liter for a top price I saw on diesel.   Figures out to 6.36 a us gallon Canadian funds for regular and 7.68 for diesel. With the US exchange rate it would be 4.58 us for regular and 5.53 for diesel.    Thought I would figure that out to get a picture of what it settles out like compared to various US prices and its about the same as the current price in Fairbanks AK as Anchorage tends to be lower. So yes, these would be the prices and higher along the way on the Alaska highway where they know they have a captured market !, for fuel prices for those beginning the long drive back to the lower 48   The problem is our Canadian dollar and going to the states that have the high prices, boy do we pay then !
