6" with 265/75/16 ?

Does anyone have a 6" lift with stock tires? Just wondering how they looked and if it helped any. I don't have any problems with my current tires, but just would like to get a bit more ground clearance.

Thanks,

When i put my body lift on I had 285's on it and i thought they looked a little odd being so small with that much clearance, but you have plenty of clearance. So... 6'' suspension and stock tires wouldn't be my first choice, I would go with some 35's.

I believe 265/75/16 are equiv. to 33". So not sure if the 2" is worth it. Not worried about it looking weird. I value functionality over looks, but looks is #2. I mainly want to make sure 265's are going to compliment the 6" at all. If it makes a functional difference.

thx

A 265 is 31"ish 285's are 33"ish and 315's are 35"ishs. My terra grappler 315 75 16's are 34.48" Funny thing is "tire's" give you your clearance. The rear axle and front supension are only as far above the ground as your tire allows. Adding a lift and no tires will give you zero added clearance underneath. the purpose of suspension lifts and body lift's are to give you wheel well clearence after you decide how big of tire to run. Case in point, when deciding what lift I wanted I first decided on a tire size. I could run 285's with very little rubbing issue's. Maybe have to crank the t-bars a little bit. possible some air damm trimming but nothing major. They run about 32" actually. Or I could stuff some 305's with the t-bars cranked all the way and trimming for sure. Almost definately a rub off road in extreme situations. After doing some reaserch I learned anything above a 305 would take a 6" lift to clear. I still had to trim after the 6" lift to clear the tire's. Some say a 4" lift will clear 35's but not in my limited experince.

So if you wanting a inch or two clearance underneath go with a 285 75.

Hope this made some sense.

Whoops, yeah, probably 31"ish. I was thinking about going 285 once, which is probably why I remembered 33".

I also know about the lift to get bigger tires. But I've noticed where I go off roading, I'm not too concerned about having the back axle clear some rocks. I'm worried my front end is going to hit something since it's so low. Also, I've hi-centered a few times because the incline was too steep for my long wheelbase. I've been through snow where I believe if it was just my rear-end plowing and not my entire chassis, I could get through easier.

I was hoping a 6" lift would help in the mean time, while my 265's run out and I go get 35", gears, and chip. Just need to make sure they do something.

I *think* my theory works, just not sure, hehe.

if you notice the axle would be higher with 285's than 265's Just putting a suspension lift on would not raise the axle or the front suspension's height. Only the tires would do that.

Hmm, ok. Here's the problem then. I was taking snow trails a few months ago. I follow the tire trails without a problem usually. Sometimes, the snow in between the tire tracks get a little high, so I'm plowing through that. Once in a while, I wouldn't get enough traction and highcenter on top of the snow. Usually not a big deal to shovel it away. I'm guessing that I need higher body clearance more than suspension clearance. It seems like the suspension is small enough to cut through the snow. Just not the body. Does that seem right?
