Long tubes on a 6.0 4wd

Does anybody have long tube headers on their 2500HD? Everywhere I've been everybody has said that the factory pipe has to be fabbed up to work with the long tube headers, which I dont doubt cause the pipe from the manifold on the drivers side goes down at an angle then curls under the front drive shaft in a 90+ degree angle. I'm thinking it may be possible to add a new straight pipe up to the collector, add a 90 degree pipe on the end, then another straight pipe to cross the backside of the tranny pan and 90 degree up to the stock pipe in front of the cat.
