Changing Program on Computer

Newbie type question. I have a 1999 Surburban 5.7L 4WD. Is it possible to change any of the factory settings in the computer? It has a speed limit set at exactly 100 MPH. Is there a way/tool/place that can change certain settings with out wiping out other stock settings? (raise max speed, increase max rpm, etc?)

Question: Why does anybody need to go faster than 100 in a Suburban? Hope you have some seriously upgraded brakes.

I don't plan on a regular diet of low altitude flying in a Surburban but it seemed to be capable of more on the one trip to the century mark. I am not a huge fan of having a vehicle not be able to produce all of the top end it can. I know better than to overwind a motor past its limits 'cause I don't like walking home.
