FRONT END KIT

Recommended Posts

I would like to replace every bushing, ball joint, steering and related components in the front end including a new steering box and pump. The front end is all over the place when hitting minor bumps, there is alot of back and forth play in the wheel and sometimes there are hard spots in the steering that suddenly release while driving! Any suggestions other than P-S-T?

Just did that with everything except steering box and pump on a 4x4. I did 4 ball joints, 4 tie rod ends, pitman, idler, control arm bushings, and sway bar bushings (end links and mounting bushings). It would help to know the year and model vehicle! I would hold off on the steering box and pump in case everything else fixes it. The steering box retails for over $600 alone ($430 at P and G Chevrolet online)!

Look into replacing the EVO sensor too. Known problem causing erratic "variable assist" to the power steering. Mine still wandered a little after replacing the front end and the new EVO sensor solved it.

1997 yukon 4wd. EVO sensor huh? Never heard of that but you described my erratic steering problem to a tee. :chevy: It feels like someone actually reaches over and yanks the wheel when it happens. What brand of components did you use in your front end?

Moog HD. Everything but the Pitman arm and that was a Napa. Check out Rock Auto for parts.

The evo sensor senses the rate at which you are turning the wheel and adjusts (the computer adjusts) power steering pressure accordingly.
