One Ton Dually Mileage

I am planning on getting a 3500 Dually and have a couple questions.

 

I am pretty well sold on the 8.1 engine but was wondering about the 6 speed Allison. Any feedback on it yet?

 

What kind of mileage are you folks getting with the 8.1 and the Allison or the 5 speed standard? I'll be using this rig for mostly highway miles, usually with a load or pulling an equipment trailer.

Not a 3500 dually, 2500HD CC LB ...loves gas.

@ $2.69 a gallon it's going to do alot of sitting.

well cant say anything about the new 6speed ally but the 5speed an 8.1 setup is great

 

i can get anywere from 10-12 mpg city if my foot is kept out of it and i have been suprised that i can get about 15mpg hwy an about 12 towing a 30ft boat

 

 

i would state that at first my 8.1 drank gas like it was nothin but then with a free lowing intake / exhaust setup wow more power and better mpg
