Possible Exhaust tick

90Gmc

Question

I have a 90 gmc with a 5.7 under acceleration a noise can be heard that sounds like a exhaust leak. But my only other option on the exhaust is the gasket/flange connecting the y pipe to the manifold. Or could it possibly be a Plug missing because the noise is in sink with the motor.... :(

OK i pulled a plug that could be messed up what does a filed plug look like and could that be the tick if the plug is not firing....

What kind of plug are you talking about? A spark plug? I have no idea what a "filed plug" is.

You've lost me. Can you be a little more detailed on what you're talking about?

I think the confusion is happening because a filed plug isn't one that won't fire.............a FOWLED spark plug is a plug that wont fire. :driving:

Do you mean a FOULED plug? (not a FOWLED plug). A fouled plug is one that has the electrode(s) coated with oil or severly carboned up, causing a misfire.

Sometimes, some carefully added ATF down the throttle body will reveal smoke at the point of the leak. ATF smokes like heck when burned. Don't just dump a large amount in and hydro-lock the engine!

What do you mean by, "my only other option..." Is there an option you've tried you're not telling us?
