rear diff lube

just wondering what everyone is running the there diffs

 

i do alot of highway driving and am due to change my fluid anything work better than others or should i just stick with what came stock in my 14bolt

 

i do use the locker alot so i need somthing thats locker frndly

I've been running Mobil 1 for 145K (since the first change at 1000 miles) with no problems. I have the G80 locker and tow (5000 lbs) about 5K a year. I change the fluid every 25-35K just to pla it safe.

 

I can't see paying ~$25 per qt for the GM grape suff. I run Mobil 1 both front and rear diff....and in the engine.

im am one of 'those guys' that paid 75$ for rear end oil

Mobil 1 does not claim to meet the GM spec in the manual. I rationalize it by thinking i saved that 50$ back by doing it myself. Plus its only 50$ extra, less than one tank of gas.

thanks guys i just didnt know if there was any that were better or worse ive used M1 in other trucks and had no prob but i also would like to see if i can go with somthing a little lighter than the stock to save on a lil gas

 

same thing as running 5 30 vs 10 30 in ur engine gm has done it with there engines so i didnt know if this premise would work with diff lube as well

 

i know i could use other items to keep gas drinkage down but i just cant buy a car at this point in time

 

 

anything helps i guess anyone seen a improvment of anykind using a oil that different than stock in the Diffs??

I have been running the royal purple in my rear diff, had the stock stuff right up until 130k when it was changed by the dealer. I paid $7 a qt for the purple stuff and it was changed for $12 including the gasket by the dealer.

any difference between the stock and royal purple ??

The purple is syn, I bevlieve it freed up the rear a little. It should reduce wear big time.
