I was verrrry easy on the pedal (occasional romp) when I 1st got the truck due to the fact that I knew mgp's were gonna suck.. truck is mostly for commute and weekend work, no towing or extreme loads yet (well just once, but does 3k of pavers really count? :D

my normal travel.. about 25% highway 60-65mph.. about 25% city/town 30-40mph.. and about 50% county roads 40-50mph.. i know, get to the point :P

anyhow.. first few tanks were about 10mpg.. then started to see 11mpg.. last few tanks were 12 and tonight i filled up and got 13.25 yippee

.. the little things that excite me.. :driving: should i continue to see more?

Since the latest round of gas price increases, I decided to be as easy as I could on this last tank and see just how good I cold get. Tried to keep it under 2000 rpm's during acceleration from a stop and drove under 70 mph most of the time. No A/C in the mornings. 70% hwy driving, 30% city.

340 miles on 21.9 gallons = 15.5 mpg. Yay!!! I had been averaging about 13.5 to 14.5, depoending on how much I put my foot into it. No, mind you, it wasn't necessarily that much fun to drive this way. But I did see a few dollars savings at the pump.

Hope prices settle down soon. Even at 15.5 mpg, it's still going to cost me $400/month ast the pump. Yikes!!
