4.3L Dipstick

Stupid question...did the 4.3L have problems with their dipstick reading too much oil? Both my dad's 4.3L Sierra (just bought brand new) and my 4.3L 99 Silverado read way above the safe crossmark lines.

How much oil are you putting in them?

We didnt...thats the thing...both these vehicles are from the dealer.

The 4.3 takes 4.5 quarts of oil with a filter. Good chance the oil change guy is putting 5 in.

Yep sounds like somebody overfilled them.
