Drivetrain popping?

It was pretty wet last night and from a stop the rear wheels decided to come loose on me. Right as the spinning started I heard two pops from what sounded like behind me. I immediately let off the gas in fear something was wrong. Anyway...next stop I decided to try it again. It did the same thing. Both times the ground was wet. I wanted it to do it once more but this time the ground was dry. No popping. Any ideas?

 

It is a 2000 Z71, 5.3L V8, 4.10 rear gears, and stock 265 tires. Please help out if you can...I am baffled.

I think that that you be your G80 locking diff. kicking in.  Mine does the same thing when the pass. wheel detects slip.

Silverado Man is right...  It's just one of the joys of having a true "locker" as opposed to a limited slip!

I looked and I do have the G80 locking differential.  I guess that is what is making the noise.
