05 GMC YUKON Denali Trans 1-2 slip

Black SS

Question

Posted

My wife's 05 Denali's tranny is going out with 24K miles. All the dealers in my immediate area are scum so I decided to try Lexington, Ky's biggest gm dealer(Glenn) out for warranty work. Note: this is my wife's, driven by my wife and has no mods other than getting the computer calibrated for the 20 inch rims and a little fuel/spark tweaking done by a reputable tuner for GM vehicles. Glenn is claiming since a GM dealer did not do the calibration my warranty is VOID!!!?? Before the dealer hear in H-burg tried to scam my unsuspecting wife for $800 on some rotors and pads they would fix anything on my SS even if it was my fault. The service manager got more excited about my mods than I did. But I refuse to go back after what they did to her so I now need to find another GM dealer considering that all I drive. Now I am afraid that I am red flagged in the GM service database and will be unable to try another dealer.

Can anyone shed any light on this issue or give some advice on my next step.

I really feel this is a bunch of bulls**t, but I am open to opinions.

TIA

A dealer can't void your warranty. It would take the AVM (factory rep) to institute a warranty block, and they don't do this lightly. If you give me your VIN, I can look it up and see if there's a warranty block, which I highly doubt.

They MAY refuse to do any sort of driveability repairs under warranty because of the calibration mods, as would I. We don't like working with unknowns.

My question would be, how did they know you did this mod? This is not usually something one can tell unless you have some big red sticker on your PCM that says WESTERS

Maybe you told them so they wouldn't recalibrate your pcm and wipe out any custom programming?
