Just a question about the steering shaft clunk... what does it really feel like?

 

I have a persistent very light clunk particularly when going around a corner that can be felt through the steering wheel but not really heard. Almost feels like something loose in the front end.

 

18k miles....add this into my 2nd gear starts that nearly got me run over once already....*sigh*

 

Love the truck....wish this stuff didn't have to happen. My 2002 s-10 was so solid I miss it.

My '03 had a similar issue, kind of a rough or loose feeling in the front end felt thru the steering. Actually turned out to be something to do with the type of grease on the steering assembly(?), there was a recall of sorts and my dealer took care of it.

I am not a mechanic, sorry for the vague answer!

You can grease it like I did almost every 1-2 years or take it to the dealer for the new shaft. I just got mine put on...works great!
