ABS and Cruise Control Don't work

I have a 92 Chevy K1500 with rear ABS. Brake light (I have no ABS light) on the dash is on constantly. When light is on I have no abs. I can get the light to go off if I switch in 4WD for a minute and then go back to 2WD, after that the light won't come on until I resart the vehicle. Also my cruise control has not worked for some time may have not worked since the brake light came on but I'm not positive. Spedometer and tach work fine. I was woundering if these 2 were related. A bad speed sensor (where is it normally located). Any help would be great I'm trying to keep cost down low and I don't wanna just start buying new cruise and ABS units.

If the brake light is on, there may be a code stored for ABS. Jumper Terminals A and H at the ALDL connector. If the brake light flashes, there should be a long flash followed by a number of short flashes. Count the long flash plus the number of short flashes to determine the code.

See Trouble Codes.net for the locations of H and A terminals.

90GMCZ71 gave you some good advice. This may be as simple as a brake switch, but get the code and that will lead you to the problem.

Sorry about the delay on an update on this. I did the code check in both locations AB and AH. and no codes. I hoping maybe for some more help on trying find out what the problems is. If my brake switch was bad wouldn't I either have no brake lights coming on or them on all the time? Is there more than one brake switch? My dash brake light comes on after a few minutes of driving. I also thinking this is affecting my lockup function for my transmission, so I am thinking it may be the speed sensor. Any help on this matter would be great.

Thanks again in advance for all the help
