Duramax issues

Hey guys,

I'm looking to get rid of my 99 1500 for a 2004 GMC Sierra 2500 Duramax. There's a problem though..... The truck has 120,000 on it and seems to burn a quart of oil every 1000 miles with a full load. The truck also smokes EXTREMELY bad if you let it idle for 20 minutes or so. The injectors I was told were replaced by the dealer and it did not make a difference. I have not actually seen the truck smoke but the guy who is selling it said it's so bad it could cause an accident. He's an extremely straight forward guy.... He's my boss! The catcher here why I'd even look at a truck like this though is that I can get it EXTREMELY cheap(probably around ($10-15,000), and the truck has every bell and whistle you could get in that year. PLUS it runs great, better than his 03' 2500 GMC Dmax and his commercial van with the DMax. So I don't understand why it's burning the oil and it's smoking so bad. Any ideas guys??

If you need any more info about the truck just let me know. Thanks

It may be running better because it is burning the oil. After all, diesel is oil.

Take one of the intercooler hoses off and see if there is oil in there. If so, the turbo could be leaking.

Also check the PCV system.
