Dashboard Humming Noise

Has anybody had a humming noise coming from the driver's side of the dashboard? I can't replicate it just by revving the engine, it has to be in gear and then it only does it at certain RPM's. It's driving me crazy and I don't want to pay the dealer my life's savings to hunt it down.

I've searched all over the net and haven't been able to find anything. Any help would be great.

Thanks,

It's on a 01 Silverado 1500 Z-71. It's hard to describe the sound, but it starts out around 1500 rpm's and goes away around 2500-3000 rpm's. And it only does it when in gear, which is weird. It sounds like the springy noise you here from flicking a doorstop. You know the ones you always played with as a kid! That’s the best way to describe the sound. I've had the dash apart when I was installing XM on the truck and looked around, but no luck.
