The 500

This year's Daytona 500 was one of the worst ones I've seen since the turn of the century!

Tony Stewart is now on my boo list, he has lost most if not all the respect I had for him. Driving completely down to take out Matt Kenseth like he did was wrong, inexusable, and totally unacceptable of a 2 time Cup champion. I don't care who was on the receiving end. Kenseth came extremely close to being slammed when he came back up the track, and it would not have been pretty. :(

Other than that, the race was pretty much a joke. I hope Nascar straightens up it's rough driving rules before the next plate race.

Could it be we've seen the end of the "nice" Tony, or whatever they called it last season?? How about his penalty--end of the longest line for what could have been a horrible wreck, but Kenseth gets the black flag??? :(

I agree, the rules need some work.

These rules are like many other NASCAR rules...they need consistency. Wheteher they suck or not wouldn't matter near as much if they enforced them all consistently.

I thought the race was great!!! But that was probably bc I was there. :seeya:

Now, my own Daytona 500 after the race sucked (the 500 mile drive home last night) and the speeding ticket 40 miles from home really sucked  but i did manage to limit my bump drafting to the straight-aways.

About Tony, for me, what i love about him is probably the same thing that I hate about him. He is an old dirt tracker, and no matter what anyone says, he can drive the hell out of a car. He had a couple of saves in turns 3 and 4. He did however get into Kenseth and almost caused a big wreck when he drove down on... ?... well, too many beers to remember who. After the race his car looked like he raced at Bristol.

I completely agree about the rules though, back of the pack is nothing in a restrictor plate race. Maybe a stop and go? One lap down?

In any case, it was a good Speedweek and i can't wait for next year. AND AT LEAST A BOW TIE WENT TO THE WINNER"S CIRCLE.

(its just too bad it was a Hendrick car :( #24  #48)

Stewart needs to practice what he complains about....He's a freakin idiot! He actually said that Kenseth got what was coming to him, so he openly admittted to the fact that he did it intentionally during his interview! Go complain that the aggressive driving has to cease & then during the Daytona 500 race a few days later actually intentionally spin out another driver??! He is certainly showing his true ways again!!

Overall I did enjoy the 500. Plenty of excitement, but not overly filled with cautions!

Oh ya, I know plenty will disagree, but congrats to Jimmie Johnson!!

I'll second what everyone else is saying as I'll help Stewart pull his foot from his mouth. Since I don't drive stock cars 190mph at Daytona I'll take Tony's word that Kenseth was pushing the envelope on lap 20 by getting Stewart loose but there is no reason to blatantly attack someone going into a turn later in the race. If Kenseth would have hit right we would have easily had another death. He needs to shape up or it will be a very long season.

2006 Daytona 500 was horrible!

no one was able to pass without almost causing a wreck. The AERO PACKAGE sucks. RESTRICTOR PLATE racing sucks.

Only excitement was the craches and I HATED everyone of them!

Very few drivers were able to pass on the outside lane EVEN with help. Drivers were afraid to jump up to the top lane to try and pass on the outside(except JR. and he had no friends!). If you were in the front and could get your car to hang onto the yellow line, the only way you got passed was when you got "MOVED".

Yea, Tony Stuart needs to review a few moves and take his foot out of his mouth. Yet nobody was injured or lost their life THIS TIME!

if they'd take off them damn restrictor plates there would be some passing instead of bumping going on. it's time to get rid of the driving in a single file line.

Shotgun, I'm all for that. But a line has to be drawn somewhere. There is such a thing as "Too far".

Granted, I'm too young to remember much, but did Earnhardt ever drive into somebody at a plate track with the intent to take them out? I don't recall ever seeing such a thing. Up until 24 hours ago.

I've just become a Tony Stewart fan. I love his psycho tendencies and the fact that he's so openly aggressive. In addition, that guy can drive "circles" around most of the others.

NASCAR has become boring with its BIG corporate rules and regulations... It's become too homogenized, pasteurized, and caffeine free now that it's so mainstream.

Sik em Tony.. I would have taken kenseth out on lap one.. I can't stand that bastage lol

Hopefully Jr. will have a good season.. it looks like he will since he got Eury Jr. and a good crew back.
