Low Coolant Message

Last weekend we had a nice snowstorm, yes you read that right it snowed all day on saturday.  I finally got to try out the AutoTrac.  I pulled in to feed the family and the low coolant light came on.  I cleaned all the slush off the front end of the truck and we all went in to eat.  After driving another 50 miles down the road the low coolant light came on again.  I picked up a gallon of Dex-Cool the next day and topped it off above the cold fill line.  The low coolant light now comes on now about one minute after I start the truck and stays on.  The temp gauge is always under 210 and the tranny temp gauge has never gone over 150.  Does the tranny cooler use the engine cooling system, or does it have it's own reserve system?  Maybe just a bad level sensor?  I'd hate to bring the truck in for something simple.  Any info is appreciated.

Could be the coolant sensor is out.  I had it replaced on my '99 for the same reason.  A couple of friends of mine, one with a '01 and the other with a '99 had the same problem.  The sensor was replaced under warranty and no problems since.
