06 bose system sounds OK, not great

OK I've read a little about how this system sucks etc...

 

I like the in dash 6 disc though.

 

has anyone replaced the stock speakers/amps and run the stock deck ouputs into new amps/speakers and does it sound good?

 

I used to be into car audio pretty heavily.

This new system needs some help. The front tweeter angle seems to be a big part of the problem.

 

I have always used alpine head units, and read about someone who got theirs all hooked into the stock steering wheel controls, onstar, etc.

 

Are their many decks to choose from for this swap?

The steering wheel control can be done with pretty much any headunit with a wired remote input. I used PAC audio components when i replaced my radio in my 01 blazer. They have everything to allow you to keep your Onstar and Steering Wheel controls. The onstar unit was pretty much plug and play except for splicing on the new radios harness and to install the steering wheel control you only have to splice 3 wires and program it.
