How many miles before brake pads needs to be replaced? I have 37,000 miles and I'm going to need front pads soon.

I just looked at mine yesterday (with 57,000 miles) they're still really thick.

it really depends on the driver, driving conditions and the vehicle. there is no specefilc mileage. i was told by gm the average for 1500 trucks was around 40k.

I know of 2 people at work that had to have the rear brakes replaced at less than 15K.  Specifically the right rear inside pad was completely worn out on both trucks.

There's no set mileage.  You replace them when they start squealing (from the wear sensors) or worse, if they're grinding (metal to metal contact - rotors MAY need replaced in that case but not always).

Aggressive drivers (my daughters) usually get around 25-30k on OEM. Conservative drivers (my wife) 90k isn't unusual.
