Wiring harness on front seat?

Was looking today at a New 06 Silverado and there was a wiring harness in the front seat. It looked like a harness from a radio.

 

Just curious what this may have been.

 

The truck was New and still on a dealer lot.

Tow package trailer brake control harness. To hook up your trailer brake controller (not included ) to the trucks wiring.

That was what I was hoping, but I didnt see any pigtails on the other end.

 

I didnt mention before that the truck wa hidden behind their service dept.

How many wires were in the harness? The TBC harness is only 4 wires; power, ground, signal from the brake switch, signal to the trailer.

This wiring harness was white.

 

I saw a trailer brake harness today and it was black.

 

I couldnt get into this truck to get a better look

The factory trailer harness only has plug on one end (to the truck) the other side of the wires is spliced into what ever kind of controlller you get. The factory harness is OK if you don't mind doing the splice. A better way is to just buy the harness from the controller manufacture. It will have plugs on each end, truck and controller. No splice just plug and play.

The only controller I personally know of where this is the case is the Tekonsha Prodigy. Most others are hard-wired to the TBC harness supplied by GM.
