Is it with the money to upgrade the 2nd Servo on a 4L60E. I have read it helps the shift firmness and holding.

I dont know about upgrades but mine was shifting hard into 2nd gear and I dropped the valve body and found I had a scored piston in the 1-2 servo. I replaced it and shift quality improved.

 

I also had problem with not going back to 1st gear when hot and I removed , tested and cleaned the shift solenoids and that no 1st gear hot problem went away.

I am looking at the TCI Servo kit hoping it would firm up the shifts. Currently my 99 Burb is used for towing and snow. When towing it is at its max as the TT MaxGVWR is 6437lbs Dry 4734lbs and 30 feet (Scaled combo loaded and ready to roll at 11950lbs) I am the 3rd owner and got her a 105000 tranny has been flushed and haven't notice any real problems YET. I know the rear is weak and the 4l60e has its problems and just hoping to keep her together for 2 more years. Towing I keep it in 3rd and temp hoover around 180 and have heat up to 210 when climbing the mountains but cools off quick. I have install a B&M 24000lbs GVR tranny cooler to help keep temps down but firm up shifts would go along way to if the servos works as described..
