I just have a quick question on, how to replace a heater core in a 98 Sierra?

I recently drove by midas and they told me they would have to evac the AC system to change the heater core out, which sucks because I just replaced the AC condenser, ports and had it recharged not but 2 months ago, now I may be wrong on this but since when do the 2 systems connect? This truck is new to me, so I may just be a noob about it but its starting to get cold and I really could use that bad boy right about now, could anyone help me out? Thanks

If you need that, once again thanks for any help I can get.

In order to get the heater core out, you have to remove the case. In order to remove the case, the evaporator core has to be disconnected, which means the a/c has to be discharged first.

well technically you dont have to pay to evacuate it. Just take a screwdriver Push down the stem on one of the ports(like a tire air stem) and let it go!. I wont tell anyone

I replaced my heater core on my '89 twice in one year, talk about suck job. Second time around did it in 2 hours. I didn't need to remove the

AC lines. Pull heater hoses from firewall and drain the coolent. Remove the bottom cover from heater core cover in the cab on passenger side, end up cracking cover. Manual states unbolting dash from door pillar, remove glove box and removing EMC from behind glove box. I can't remember if I remove EMC the second time. There are small studs with bolt sticking out from firewall, remove bolts and pull out core from inside the heater case. Buy a core with a lifetime warrenty, first one lasted 6 months before leaking.
