My "new used" '98 K1500 4x4 Burb with Z82 heavy tow pkg has four full leafs plus one half-leaf at the top. I had been told that some 1500 Suburbans had coil rear springs so I was pleased to find mine had leafs. Don't know if 4x4 and/or Z82 makes a difference on which rear springs are installed. How many leafs on your stock '99 C2500 Burb?

Our K1500 with 4 1/2 leafs feels firm when not loaded but it is a comfortable ride, but it sure wouldn't handle the loads that the 2500 would. If you don't really need the full load capacity of the 2500 with the 6 1/2 leafs, I would think that any qualified spring shop could remove a couple of them.

In the town where I live (Nashville) there is a shop called Nashville Spring that has been around for many years and I know of folks who have had springs beefed up, leafs added and repaired, etc., so I would think they could remove a couple as well as add them.

We had a C20 "Camper Special" truck of late 70's vintage once and I know what you mean by "stiff" LOL. That thing was so stiff when not hauling that without a tight seatbelt, your could hit the top of the cab real easy, but with a heavy load it was smooth and nice. I remember counting the leafs on that one and I'm pretty sure (it's been a long time) it had 8 leafs... :lurk:
