Burning up the blower motor circuit

My '96 K1500 currently has a problem with the circuit between the fan speed switch and the blower motor. The fan switch had a meltdown so I replaced it. I also changed the blower motor resistor. I also burned up a harness with two gound wires and a power wire that is directly behind the glovebox. I cut out the burned section and replaced it with insulated disconnects. Now just recently the fan switch burned up again along with the power wire mentioned before. I purchased a new blower motor and fan switch with the assumption that the circuit is pulling too much current somewhere. I went to install the fan switch and realized the harness had been affected by the heat. I realized the harness and the switch were melted where at the connection of the ground wires. After a little more inspection I realized it doesn't have a ground wire, the light blueish green wire had been scorched and the insulation was black,same for the brown wire. I'm waiting for the dealer parts guy to call back and tell me if I can even get that harness right now.

 

My biggest problem is trying to find the schematic for the blower system. My Chilton's manual doesn't list that system and I can't find it online. I can access the All-Data online system through the library, so I'm going to check that out after work.

 

What should I be looking for or what can I do to fix this. My ride to work was VERY cold this morning, plus I'm going to have to have my defrost soon.

sounds like you need a new blower motor, as they get older they draw more and more current even though it still works
