'99 Suburban coolant leak

at the beginning of Nov. I made a trip from Dallas to Phoenix. I noticed at the first stop I was leaking coolant. I checked both hoses, the drain plug, the water pump, and can't find where it's leaking from. I topped it off and made the rest of the trip keeping a close eye on the temperature and had no problems. It only seems to leak right after I stop and only for a few minutes. and it only leaks when it's topped off. It will stop leaking when the coolant level gets to about 3/4 inch below the top of the radiator, leaving a little of the coil exposed. The engine has continued to cool fine, but I definatly have a leak and need to fix it. Do yall have any suggestions what I oughta check?

thanks

Where does it look like the leak is coming from? radiator, wtr pump? I'm guessing you have 5.7? you didn't mention which engine you have, if it is do you have plastic tanks on your radiator? if you do one may be cracked, I had this happen on a 88 I had, took me a while to find it, and it was the same way would only leak about 1/3 way down the tank. :banghead:

My bad, yes it's a '99 with the 5.7 and about 130k miles. There's a metal piece under the radiator with three holes in it, one near each end and one in the middle. and it drips out of whichever hole is down hill. I can't figure out where it's dripping above there.

thanks
