Can a Nav Radio be reprogramed?

Ok so I am looking at a TNR that has the second DVD drive behind the screen and I was wondering if it could be reprogramed to work with my 06 GMC CC with the base bose system. It aslo has the rear radio controls.

Not sure on the modifications that may be needed, but you know if you remove that DVD the radio will no longer ber a nav radio because that's where the nav DVD disk goes.

Ok I am not sure that I follow you. The radio that I am looking at looks like the one below. This unit pictured looks a little different and the screen folds down to reveal a seprate DVD slot. The slot shown in the picture is for CD's. I do not like the unit that folks here have put in thier trucks because you cannot listen to a CD while using the navigation feature. This unit seems to have solved that problem by having a dedicated dvd drive for the nav cd behind the screen. My question is can these units be reprogramed to work with my truck. Everyone that I have seen came out of a H3, Envoy, or a mini van. I am not sure if that would work with my truck. I have been told no but also have been told that the radio itself can be reprogramed to work in other GM cars and trucks.

Yes! there is a guy here in Michigan who works for GM. He can reprogram the NAV touch screens to be a lux or non lux. Hes done it for several people. His name on the forums is "machomachodan". If you can catch him, he sells on ebay under the same exact name.
