Electrical Problem

My Truck: 1992 GMC Sierra 4X4

My battery light flickers on and off rapidly when I'm on cruise control in overdrive as it downshifts going up a grade. The battery was new in Jan. '06 and the alternator is fairly new and the needle on the gauge does not move a hair. Oh, and the odometer needle jumps around and then settles down to the speed I have the cruise set at. The only other gauge problem I had recently was a low oil pressure reading but the local GMC dealer tested it manually and it held pressure. After that, I went back to 10W30 from 10W40 and it's steady now at 30 (engine has 110K on a rebuild). Any clue as to what's going on here? Could it be a dash cluster problem?
