New transfer case update

I took the truck back today because of my concerns of the harsh engagement of my new transfer case and the "driveline ticking" that I now have in 4wd.  I rode in my truck and a new 2002 crewcab to compare the 2 trucks.

 

The 2002 still engaged with a soft bump.  Mine is a harsher but not by much.  However there is alot more driveline lash noise on mine when the 4wd is engaged.  I asked and the encoder motor was replaced...  I'll live with it for now I guess as long as they find out what is making the ticking noise.  The truck will be dropped off Monday afternoon and they'll keep it overnight so they can drive it cold to try to duplicate why my truck wants to start out in second gear once in awhile as it is warming up.  He is going to look for some reprogramming and hopefully talk to tech assistance about it before I drop it off.

 

He said they have "chassis ears" that they will stick all over my truck and try to locate the ticking noise using headphones.  I guess I'll know more next Tuesday...

One #### of an ordeal to be going through with an almost new pickup truck.  Hopefully they'll get it all straightened out without too much trouble from this point forward, but the way things have been going I don't know if you'll get that lucky.
