gmc radio harness

Hi, i'm new here. I drive a 2005 gmc sierra 3500 that comes with just an am/fm radio. I like to install an aftermarket stereo cd player, but for some reason i can not find the accessory wire on the factory harness. I've seen harness that cost over $100 and it's way to expensive (these are the ones with door chimes, etc..), and i've also seen the cheaper ones for around $20. And they are both gm harnesses that connects to the factory harness. My question is what is the difference between the two? and is it necessary to get the one that has the door chimes and such. a guy from "BEST BUY" store told me that the cheaper ones will disrupt the signals when it comes to diagnostic check and that my "check engine light" will continue to stay on, is this true? please help.

nobody knows?

GM has an accessory behind the radio but it is low voltage. if you want to keep your door chime, have bose, or a radio that say RDS on it you would need to buy the expensive harness which will provide you with your accessory. if these do not apply to your truck or you then buy the gm harness without the accessory wire ($20). then run your own accessory from the ingnition column or from the fuse box. be sure to place an inline fuse in the wire either way!

Good luck
