I am looking to trade in my 2005 GMC yukon for a new GMC truck I will wait if they are I hear it will be V6 4.9 but who knows I am sure that GM wont rrelease info because everyone will be waiting. I love the 2500 with the big 6.6 but I dont need that much truck. I work for Caterpillar and travel on the road and off the road alot in coal mines and jobsites so I need a tough truck that has a good efficent engine and suspension that rides good. A 2007 four door short bed with all the bells and whistles with some kind of duramax would be my dream truck also would they put it in a short Yukon. one last question what engine is better for all around use new 5.3 or 6.0 I buy a new GMC yukon every year or so and consider myself a GM man

Thank you

I agree, we all don't need a 1-ton 550 ft. lb. gorilla but still want to enjoy diesel goodness. My TDI VW is the PERFECT tool for the traveling job, but at the extreme other end of the spectrum. GM used to offer the 6.2 in a 1/2 ton... I had a 1980 Scout with a Nissan 633T diesel, I loved that. As for GM offereing a mid/size diesel... good luck. They (in their infinite marketing wisdom) walked away from the diesel Suburban offering and handed that market segment over to Ford's Excursion/Powerstroke. The sad part is pricewise, a loaded "midsize" truck ends up at 85% the cost of fullsize with lower resale value.

Everything I've heard is that GM won't have a "light-duty" diesel before 2009.

They are :flag: I talked to the owner of a huge local GMC Dealership who was a fraternity brother of mine in collage ( the family owns 7 dealerships all over). The engine will not be tagged as a Duramax for say but it will be a V8 and is going in the Yukon XL HD with 8 lugs and the Chevy 1500HD and GMC 1500 HD it will be called the 1550HDD about 11,000 lb towing capacity. The engine will also go in the H2 and they are even making a smaller 4.9 liter V6 diesel for the Canyon and the H3 WOW cant wait. He heard about this at a regional dealer meeting for large dealership owners and it is hush hush for now the engines are held up on emmsions compilence and one of them will even have twin turbos I dont remember which one.

that sounds kinda hard to believe since the smallest diesel i can think of in GM's lineup it the D-Max and especially the part about the canyon and rado

Dealerships generally don't know half of what they think they do.
