2007 Z71 Silverado 4x4 Ltz

Hey wanted to know what you guys thought about this. Ordered a Z71 4x4 LTZ with ez lift tailgate, sunroof, DVD system, safety package and a few others and the MSRP is $42,750 and the dealer has come back with a price of $39,600 with supplier discount before any incentives. Was wondering if it is out of the question to somehow push them to $38,000? Bought a suburban in 2004 that had MSRP of $48,600 and got them down to $36,400. Just does not seem like they are budging much on the new trucks.

They are getting the truck delivered in early may is there a chance for better incentives next month?

thanks

SHOP around! See what the other dealers are offering (consider GMC too!). You can pin them against one another and come out with a final low price winner.

Don't pay over invoice no matter what.

Actually doesn't sound like a bad deal, just depends on what the invoice is--that's usually the price you want to pay.

Compared to your '04 Suburban (we have one), however, that's not a fair comparison. Unlike back then, when there was both a large spread between MSRP and invoice AND huge rebates, they've tried to slim those margins down a lot lately and both set MSRP's at lower levels in the first place, keep the invoice right around where it was, and also then trim back rebates.

So the days of walking in and getting a new GM SUV, for example, at $10-12k off without negotiations is fading, because the MSRP's just are not as overinflated as they used to be--and that's a bad judge against new ones. Just find out what the actual invoice is, and that should be your goal, minus any rebates.

Was able to talk them down a little more and get them to do it for $39K even and then subtract incentives which would bring it to $37K before TTL. So figured not bad. Two other dealership could not beat it. So can't wait till May for it to be delivered..... :)

Sounds like a good price too me. Plus you are using your supplier discount? Heck, that practically eliminates the very need to haggle. Why don't you wait for the out the door price and see if you can round off the deal?

Talking from experience, people think that there are thousands of extra dollars left on the table when it comes to invoice pricing which is completely wrong. Heck when I sold cars if I was making thousands of dollars per vehicle I NEVER would have left...heck I could be retired...cause I would be a multi millionaire.

Seriously it sounds like you got a good deal going there, and if the dealer has a great reputation, then you are doing yourself an even better favor. Build a good relationship with your dealer and you will have MANY years of good and happy service etc... In other words is $10 a month (thats 600 dollars divided by 60 months) worth piece of mind knowing your dealer is going to take care of you for all your needs? Whats $10 a month? thats not eating lunch at fast food 2 days out of the month!!! Yeah when you put it in perspective its not that bad. Its psychological.

Good luck.

Thanks for the replies all. GM is supposed to start building the truck on the 23 of this month.

Have a question. I like the brushed aluminum look on the dashes in the Tahoe LTZ Z71 why do they not do the same thing for the silverados? Wonder if anybody has looked into swapping out the wood grain which I do not like.

thanks

I am new to the forum and in the process of looking for a NBS GMC. I just wanted to make sure that you knew about the extra $1000 that they are offering with the supplier discount.

I have been researching this topic, and all of the incentives that GM puts out are very confusing.

Hopefully I don't get screwed too bad.

Thanks Wynton I was aware of it. Only thing is its being built next week so I won't take delivery till May so I am hoping at minimum they continue the current incentives or come out with some better ones. Being that month of may has Memorial day I am thinking it could be better but who knows. I did see that Ford came back with the 0% financing on there trucks for 60months so I am hoping Chevy follows suit.

Yep, it can be swapped. A LOT of people have complained since the SUV's were intro'd, and most prefer the silver trim, but there's still no choice. Still, it's not that hard, and if you have a decent dealer parts department, they can order all the pieces--it's essentially just unsnapping the old and back in with the new.

A few in the Avalanche club, for one, have had it done, but still no one has really gotten a complete list of the part numbers needed for each piece.

It's too bad it isn't like the Impala, where you actually get a no charge choice of fake wood or silver--but that's the only vehicle they allow equipped like that.

What he said.

But for the record, you can't get a Tahoe LTZ Z71 (for that matter, any other current GM 900 LTZ Z71). It seems the Z71 package is limited to lower trims. And LTZ trims only get the wood look inside, while I believe the metal finish is limited to the base models or Z71 only (no LTs without Z71 can have it, either). Given the number of folks that ask about being able to change out the interior and GM's recent dive into "accessories" to allow customization for all their vehicles, I wouldn't be surprised to see interior trim parts available as an accessory sometime in the future. It's be a smart move, just like the custom grills, steps, wheels, etc.

I wish you could get the Tahoe Z71 look on the new trucks, I woulda gotten it on mine, I love the look of brushed aluminum and the Light Titanium inserts in the seats...

Grrr... why?!?!
