N-fab Drop Nerf Bars

I am looking at the N-Fab drop step nerf bars and they bolt to the pinch weld on the body, not the frame. Seems like a weak connection and and made for looks only. Anyone have these and how well do they hold up? I like them since there are no plastic steps or end caps. I currently have Manik, which bolt to the frame, but they are getting old (rusty) and Manik does not make them for my truck anymore.

I went to their website because I too, were interested in the steps. It documents on the page that the step will hold up to 445 lbs. I am curious about the cost for a '05 Z71 Crew cab and whether I will have to remove my GMC mudflaps? I like the look without making the truck sit lower than it actually does.

My concern is if they are hit, it transfers that force to the body instead of the frame. Sure, they can hold over twice my weight, but the mounting point is still sheet metal. After a bunch of debate, I cut the brackets off of the Manik and made my own from 3 inch steel tube, then had them Rhino Lined.
