Down To Deciding

Ok guys, I'm down to deciding what I want to do. Here are my three possible options (these are the only three because of limited $):

1. 3" Body Lift and 35" Tires

2. 3" Body Lift and 33" Tires

3. 2" Body Lift and 33" Tires

What would be the best setup? It is recommended to regear higher than 3.73 w/ 35s but a lot of people don't - I wouldn't because I don't have the money to do so. A 3" body lift with 33s makes the tires look too small IMO, but i've only seen like 3 pictures. I'm thinking setup 3 would be a good balance, but i've never seen this setup.

I also need LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of pictures to support your opinion please!

If i was you, id save your money up and buy a real kit... body kits are dumb unless you have suspension. But if you want to clear tires and make it look bigger than id get the 2inch and 33's, just to be safe

option 3.....personally i dont want a body lift, but if i were to get one i wouldnt want it to be obvious, thats why i say the 2 inches

Why not torsion keys?

b/c I don't want to jack up my cv angles...i think i'm going to go with the 3"bl and 35s...from what i've read, no one with stock 3.73 gears has any trouble other than a slight loss in power. I have the towing package anyway - my tranny cooler will help :chevy:

Without tightening your keys, I don't think 35's will fit on just a body lift.

I run 33x12.50 tires with a 3 in body and my torsion bars turned up about an inch and i would still get some rubbing in the front when backing up and the wheels turned. I dont think it is possible to fit a 35in tire on just a 3in body lift unless it is super narrow, like 9.5

i don't think you would be able to clear 35's under a 3in body....your best bet would go with the 33's and the 3in body lift. but if it was me i would wait and save for a suspension lift, body lift have not been very reliable, like body twisting and not sitting straight on the frame. good luck.

If you are only looking for looks that I would do a 2" body lift, I think the 3" is to much, after all the only thing that truly gets you ground clearence is tires, so unless you plan on using it, save you your money on the lift kit.

My buddy used keys to lift his about 2" and he's running 33s. They fill up the wheel well nicely without rubbing and no trimming required. He replaced the back shocks with Skyjackers and the ride is great. He hasn't had any trouble with the CVs and he's had it like that for almost 2 years.

Slickwilly,

What type of 2 inch lift do you have? Is it suspension lift or torsion keys and blocks? If it's a suspension, what type is it and where did you buy it?

How much did it cost to buy it and to install it. I'm really interested in a 2-3 inch lift for my suburban.

Thanks

well, I know for a fact that you can fit 35s with just a 3in bl and minor cranking...maybe some trimming. I'm just not sure what I want to do. I love trucks that have a good balance of lift vs. tires and I can't stand trucks that are lifted 6in and have stockers or trucks that aren't lifted and STUFFED 37s...6in lift and 35/36s are the perfect ratio but I can't afford a 6in lift...only problem with 33s is that they always look too wide (like drag slicks) to me

The only way a 35 is gonna fit is if it is very NARROW and on stock rims, so whats the point? I run 33s on 8in wide rims and that is perfect, when they were on 10 in wide rims i got some rubbing, so tire width is THAT important. 35s with 3 inches of lift is just setting someone up for migraines.
