Cabin Air Filter Change

So I bought a used 99' Sierra z71 ext cab 5.3/Auto for 4k w/ 135k miles on it. The guy really needed the money so I bought it since I needed a truck. Anyways I was doing my routine new to me car maintenance(every single fluid changed w/ some other things). The A/C blew cold but just not very forceful, just sputtering out. I figured the cabin air filters so I went and bought some from Vato Zone for 16 bucks. I took the old ones out and dear God they were dirty. Mud chunks, leaves, broken glass, soot black filters all the way around... I had s**t POURING out before I took the filters out. I also found a tic tac, not sure how that got in there and a small colony of ants eating said tic tac. :D

Anyways guys just a reminder to change them filters when you get a chance. It took a 1/4 wratchet w/ a 8mm socket and 5 minutes.

I havent gotten a chance to change the cabin air filter, wheres it located on these trucks? First chevy for me, used to fords.

Like wise I was used to Fords, I had to read up. Sit in the passanger seat. Where your toes would look straight up that's where it is. 3 bolts holding a black plastic cover on(if you have a center console). take off the 2 towards the passanger side and JUST losen the one over the tranny tunnel. Swing the cover out and there is a L shaped clip holding BOTH filters in, change them w/ filters facing correct way(shown on filter, air goes from passanger to drivers side).

I think I know what cover your talking about. The stealer had a "special" to change the cabin filter for 89.95. I passed, but now that I know where it is, Ill have to go to autozone and change it myself. Hopefully mine isnt as bad as the one you had to change, but I wont know until I open it!! Thanks so much!!
