Well i figure i might as well post the truck love of my life

 

 

I tried to get a good up close pic but its hard when your running past 60 feet in length..

 

And the farmers here would know whats on our trailer.. Thats what our place builds.. We build pallet boxes for the farmers around southern ontario..

 

Only specs i can really give is it has a C12 Cat with 450 HP and an Eaton 18 speed..  Oh there's our DOEPKER 48' flatbed trailer as well..

Ya definately a chore to park.. Heck with the 3 fixed axles its a chore..

 

What kinda tickes me off is i have to learn to back up with a 43' trailer and then take my road test in a 48' trailer.. My instructor even said its a lot harder with the longer trailer so i d better get it right the first time..

Whats with the five axles on the trailer?  I wouldn't think empty pallets would weigh enough to require the extra three to satisfy requirements.

I dunno, but two aren't on the ground so they aren't going to do much good.

The 5 axle trailer is our lumber trailer.. Its also the quickest way to deliver boxes..  The 2 lift axles are very helpful when your grossing 140000 lbs..

 

What was suprising was when we went down to the states the comments of people saying what a wierd looking trailer?!?! Never seen that many axles on a trailer before.. Around here you'll see 3 common trailers.. 5 axle flatbed, tandem enclosed trailers, or B-Trains *mostly for hauling lumber*

When those tag axles are on the ground it sure must be he!! on tires when you turn!!!  What is the max GCVW of a tractor trailer in Canada before you have to get permits???  I think it is 80000 lbs in the states.

I've seen alot of trailers but I've never seen one like that.  Nice truck though.

There almost the same.. I dont know the number exactly but i ll find out..

 

The tag axles are nice to pull some heavy loads.. With the tridem sitting almost center the trailer turns really nicely compared to some of the other trailers on the road..

 

I myself prefer the highway trucks over this style.. Talk about bad gas millage.. On a good day we get like 5-5.5 mpg.. Kinda shocking when you think about it.. I can see why the independants are struggling.. With the cost of fuel coming out of there pockets can really hurt when you fill up at 500-700 bucks at a shot..

I ll tell ya after a year of building them you dont like them that much..

 

Wasnt too bad of a year we built about 10 000 boxes and we still have orders for about 2000 more..

alsz71,  check these Australian Road Trains out.  I've seen a show on the Discovery Channel, called Extreme Machines, that showed alot of these.  Pretty cool!
