I had a set of Memphis Audio speakers installed. But I also had a Memphis Audio 4 channel amp installed at the same time. Kept the stock head unit. You can just go with speakers though. Check crutchfield.com for application on what fits and compare specs on their site.

I opted to keep the head unit for anti-theft reasons. I have a Tahoe but I replaced the 4 door speakers with Pioneer 6 1/2" 3-way. The sound was better but not loud enough for my tastes. I then removed the cheesey amp behind my glovebox and installed a Kenwood 4X100Watt amp and a Rockford Amp along with replacing the sub (Tahoe) and it was like night and day. Still a bit of distortion from the head unit but more than acceptable for my tortured ears :driving:

I have Pheonix Gold Rsd65cs component speakers powered by a Profile AP600 2 channel amp and a Pioneer DEH-5800MP head unit. It is a HUGE improvment over stock. Costed me about $350 for a very noticable improvment in sound quality.

I insatalled Polk 6.5s in my truck and they are really nice speakers compared to the stock junk. I still want to add an amp to my stock head unit, but that will have to wait after I get a Corsa exhaust.

For anyone that's done the install themselves.. How difficult was it getting the door panels off? Thanks..

Very easy. IIRC there are two or three screws. One behind the plastic piece around the door handle and one on the bottom, and I think there was one under the trim piece by the mirror. Remove the three and pull up and it should come right out. Much better system than the old body style. Just watch for electrical connectors. The power window/mirror control pops up as a unit, the seat heater pops out, and the door lock pops out. Thats all I recall at the moment :driving:

If you go to AMP Research`s web site and click on the instalation manual for the power step it gives pics and instructions. I installed the step and it requires removing the panels to hook up the wires and like bish said its very easy.Make sure when you put panel back you hook it inside the rubber channel at the top.You shouldnt see the metal of the door through the lock nob you should see rubber. I had to do one side twice because when I started pulling the second door apart I saw it looked different from putting the other one back.

Yep, your LTZ has the Bose Premium sound system, which has a powered sub in the center console.

I thought it might.... I was thinking about getting a JL stealthbox for the center.....that was until I heard the stock system. It's much better then my old 2005 LT. Do you know how big the factory sub is? 10in? Is it possible to just upgrade the factory sub? the stealthbox costs major $$$ I still a great amp from the old truck.

I don't know the size/power of it, sorry. But IMO it's not all that impressive. Definitely better than most factory systems, but nothing compared to a nice aftermarket set-up.
