Removed The Tailgate Bowtie

Recommended Posts

I got sick of how cluttered the rear end of my truck looked and decided to get rid of the tailgate bowtie. Took me about 30 minutes using the hairdrier and fishing line method. Would have went faster except ALL the adhesive was let on the tailgate. A bottle of "Oops" took care of that.

Now you can't tell anything was there and it look alot better to me.

I like it much better without the bowtie too. I am new here and have a question. I can't post anything right now is why I am asking here. But i want to know if i can put a 350 Ramjet in my 1997 Chevy cheyenne 1500. It has the 4l60e transmission, and i wasn't sure if that transmission would bolt up no problem? If there are any parts i need to get. Could you tell me which and possible websites to get them from.. Sorry this is just driving me insane. I have to find out :banghead: . Thanks

mine is off as well.......but i gotta ask, why did Chevy feel it was necessary to put the big Gold emblem on in the first place?

only other trucks and SUV's i see with tail emblems is Ford, and Ford really did their customers wrong by embossing the area where the thing mounts.

at least Chevy had the smarts to not emboss the metal, thereby giving us an easy out on this one.

only other thing i could think of was that Chevy was trying to cover something up like the defect we all saw in the sheet metal on the GMT-800's around the handle, but i don't see any on the 900's.

All of my emblems and decals were gone the first weekend I had the truck. Only the grill bowtie (now red) and center cap bowties remain. I don't like to advertise and I like smooth for frequent ZAINO applications...

The 350 "Ramjet" crate motor from GMPP has it's own small stand alone computer attached to the intake manifold. You'd probably have to somehow modify your oem computer harness and integrate everything. If it's possible, respected after market hotrod wiring companies like PAINLESS, or RON FRANCIS or maybe STREET & PERFORMANCE would be the ones to contact. They could tell you if it's possible and have the knowledge about the wiring required. The motor should bolt right up to the transmission w/o any issues. It probably won't be an inexpensive project...

Very nice.

Did you do something with your wheel wells? Maybe it's just the angle of the pic but they look darkened.
