Towed My Jeep.

Finally got to tow something alittle heavier with my 07 sierra. I recently moved and finally got around to getting my 81cj-7 jeep moved to my new house. I believe the jeep stock weighed about 3200lbs, add to that 33" tires, crazy big iron bumpers, with an old school warn winch, and and not to mention it was loaded down with tools and what-not, that i was moving also. Trailer and all i'm sure it was over 6klbs. The trailer is in less than optimum shape, and didn't have any brakes. I only had to go 45 miles but the truck did an awesome job of pulling the load. Truck was able to maintain OD except for a couple of long hills it shifted to 4th, "more so b/c of my heavy foot". When it shifted to 4th the the truck immediately had power to start acclerating going up hill. My average speed was around 75 and i averaged 10mpg according to my dic. Which isn't bad at all towing my little brick. Handling wise the truck was rock solid, i never felt any sway while passing 18 wheelers, and the stopping the rig was easier than expected. Unfourtanetly when i got home to unload my jeep a power steering line blew out and hosed both the jeep and my truck tailgate down. :) So now it's still sitting on the trailer till i'm able to change the line out. :cool:CIMG1376.jpg

That sounds kinda bad, and nice jeep.

The mpg part or the dic part. Either way thanks about the jeep. It's my baby. :)

That sounds about like my experience. i towed my 00' single cab Z on 33's on a 18' car hauler about 300 miles and then two weeks later had to haul it again on a 18' flatbed, both about 2000#. truck hauled it very well and i averaged between 9.5(texas hill country) to 11(flat land around houston) hand calc GMC 900 5.3 cc 4x4 trailer had brakes but truck wasnt set up, still stopped very well. speed was around 70 avg.

You shifted into 4th for more power? I take it you have a 6spd denali?

Thanks for catching that. No it's the 4sp with the 6.0. shifted to 3rd. Sorry for the mix-up. :)
