Torque Convertor Question

what would a 3000 stall torque convertor do to my transmission and ability to tow something?? I just dont want anything to s**t the bed on me here

 

its a 2001 2500HD 6.0 4wd, i have a set of 4.56 gears looking me right in the face beggin to hop in my truck and happened to run across a good deal on a cam and torque convertor and thought why not? thanks for the help fellas

Your gas milage will suffer during normal stuff. Should remain about the same though when you're towing. You'll have better towing performance with a higher stall since the torque peak for our engines is around that range. Might be worth talking to a custom torque converter shop to see what they say about transmission fluid temperature rise (might want to have a direct to air tranny cooler). You'll still want a locking torque converter of course, without and you'll have HORRID gas milage, not to mention it'll heat the fluid up badly if its unlocked and you're just cruising down the road.
