Brake Controler

I was wondering if any one knew the diffrence between the harness on the 02 and 03 that hooks the controler to the truck. I just bought one for my 01 and the box said it was for 03 and up but the parts guy said it would work but I think there must be a pin diffrent or something because the brake makes the wrong pin hot at the plug at the rear of the truck. if any one has one for a 02 or older could you please tell me your pin location. I am wondering if I can just switch the pins on the harness. thanks for your help
