I need some help. I was just on the way home and my speedometer broke. I looked down and it said I was driving 120 mph. I knew that wasn't right. What part is broken? I haven't messed with cars in a long time. Do they still use cables? If so, where can I get one?

Is this going to cost me a fortune?

Any help would be appreciatted.

no cables, all electronic... you need to replace your cluster, the cluster is like $250 and it needs to be programmed by the dealer after you replace it... very common problem

Is that always the case? The whole cluster isn't bad, just the speedometer. Every other gauge works just fine.

Hey Rick,

Just to give you some comfort, my 2003 Yukon JUST did the samething last weekend(11/17/07). I looked down and the redish-orange speedometer was bent over to 120 mph.

CRAP!!! 250.00 for the entire cluster and then I/we still have to pay to have the dealer re-programmed!

Let me know where you get yours from. I would like to buy a NEW genunine GM part over internet vs. going to buy from the dealership.
