Identifying The Gmc Year

I want to replace the side molding on my '03 Silverado 2500HD, XCab short box, with the Sierra chrome strips.

I have seen GMCs with the chrome pieces that pretty much go all the way down the side, including the short piece on the rear of the cab (between the rear door and the bed). My problem is that I haven't been able to identify the year and model of the GMC that has what I'm looking for.

Any help would be appreciated.

my 04.5 LT had those. About 2" wide, and narrow to a point.

I thought they were awful and pulled them off.

I think they looked good on some trucks. Funny how many people in here think trucks look "custom" with everything removed. I never understood it. I for one think they just look too plain. I'm all for removing emblems and advertising crap though... everybody has an opinion.

1999-2002 GMT800 GMC pickups had the chrome molding that extends to the bed

2003 started the use on the cab only. GM is so cheap :driving:

Thanks for that info Joe, that's just what I was looking for.

This morning, I went to the local GMC dealer in hopes of getting a GM accessory KIT or, at worst, purchase the eight pieces (4 on each side) individually. Unfortunately, the parts guy said he couldn't help me unless I gave him the last four digits of the VIN. :happysad: He also said he didn't know anything about an accessory side molding kit. Wish I had a GM part # for that kit.

So, now I need one of you good folks that have a '99 - '02 GMC, 4 door Xcab, short bed, to help me out with the last 4 of your VIN. I would really appreciate the favor. You can e-mail me @ [email protected]

Thanks for any help :D
