Gm Cluster Light Failure

I have a 2005 GMC Sierra Z71. Half of the speedometer illumination is out. Is there a recall that will cover this, or will I have to purchase a refurbished unit. I was told the bulbs were soldered into the circuit board so there is no chance of replacement.

If your handy with a soldering iron you can replace them yourself. I did one in my radio that blew out. I got the bulbs at Radio Shack.

there is a recall out for the entire instrument cluster for intermittent engine guages. i just rcvd this recall letter from gm for my 2003 gmc sierra denali. i'll get the letter and fwd the info.

you just might remember that your guages went out a few times.

isnt your truck still covered by warranty? have the dealer fix it.

I had the same issue on my 02 Suburban and it was covered by warranty. They put in a complete new cluster.
