Steering Damper Problem On 04 Sierra

so my dads truck went in to fix the steering damper on his 04 sierra 2WD and it is back to doing the same thing...it feels like it is knocking around or loose. both his biddies have chevy 1/2 tons and they also do the same thing however were fixed the first time. i called the dealership and they say its no longer under warrenty. is there anything i can do to fix it? o yeah this is my first post my name is kyle and i drive an 89 toyota pickup...got it for sale and will be buying a 3/4 ton gmc in the near future...thanks guys

Do a search for "steering intermediate shaft" and you will find loads of info here that you desire. Basically it just needs repacked with grease. Doesn't hurt anything just annoying as hell.
