im a newb on the hd's and i will be looking at buying one within the next 6 months or so...all the trucks in my price range have 70XXX plus miles on them. im looking to spend between 14K and 17K. also looking for a crew cab or extended cab. they have the 6.0...and my question is should i be looking out for anything when shopping. im doing my homework early and want to make sure i make the right buy for my money.

CARFAX report, see if there are maintenance records in the glove box.

Crawl underneath and look for excessive rust and oil leaks.

Look up the blue book value with all the specs of the vehicle you're interested in.
