I have a 2000 silverado 5.3 vortec .I have been lookin at my friends transam with ls1.Im wondering if my intake ,wiring harness ,with my sensors will go on that motor ,or the LS6 I have found some good low millage wrecked donor cars at local yards just need verification before I make a purchase. This looks really simple to me.

I think the LSX motors are set up a lot different than the truck motors. They share a lot of the same block designs but I don't think the electronics will interchange as a LS1 has different specs than a 5.3, like air/fuel, spark delivery, EGTs, etc. I may be wrong as I've never done a swap of that nature but from I've heard it's not as easy as just dropping the motor in.

Yeah...I think the cam profiles are all different too. Not that it would be hard to swap that out while you have the engine out...But I'd think you'd be better off finding a 6.0 out of a truck.

Either one would be an easy swap. I would go with the LS1 myself. Use the box from the donor. If you leave it stock you may gust have to get a vats eliminator or simular depending on the donor. Plenty of people out there can re flash the box (around $200) or buy the software and map it your self. The wiring isnt that bad if you just sit down and take a real good look at it. Me and my son droped one in an early Camaro last winter. Get every thing you can from the donor. We bought the whole wrecked late model Camaro for a grand.

Good luck

Thanx for info .I know it wont be a quick job, but I believe it wont be that bad either.
