Question On Dash And Steering Wheel Lights

Recommended Posts

I have 2004 Sierra Crew Z71 loaded to the gills.

What I don't have is all of my interior lights working, which is kinda of annoying. On my 4wd indicator, the 4L and 4 H have lights behind them, but the 2 and the AWD (whatever it is labeld as) do not. I have not pulled anything out on the dash, yet. Is there just a little bulb back there to be replaced, if so, does anyone have a part number so that I can get the bulb first?

Secondly, on my steering wheel, one of the buttons does not light up anymore either. How hard are those to change out? Again, part number for bulb would be great if someone has it available.

Third, slightly different. ...

I want more light out of my stock headlights and fogs. Suggestions?

Thanks!

Anthony

Anthony, from experience with the buttons on the steering wheel i can tell you that they are soldered in, there very small LED lights... if you have experience with soldering and think u can do a decent job all you'll have to do is find the bulbs and solder them in... if not the switches usually run between 30-60 dollars at the dealer... but u might be able to find some on eBay or at a junkyard... if you go to a junk yard you maybe able to pull some little LEDs out of an old stereo or steering wheel button yourself for a few dollars...

on the 4wd 2wd switch panel I'm almost positive that they are the same small led lights that are in your steering wheel buttons... but hopefully someone will know for sure!

and as far as getting more out of your stock headlights and fogs you can try a few different things... you could go with an after market bulb like a silverstar bulb... i have them in mine and they are great! i actually took the high beam bulbs out of my truck and put them on the fog light harness... i run fog's no matter what the time of day... and I've used them in the summer when its hot and the harness seems to hold up fine... but don't try it unless your ready to possibly get a new socket or rewire some of your wiring.. because some guys have had theres melt on them... mine i got lucky tho... there holding up fine! just make sure that if you do throw your high beam bulbs in your fog lights... that you focus them way farther towards the ground so u don't blind anyone... but other than that you'll probably be better off just going with a brighter after market bulb... they'll give you all the light you need!

hope this helps...
