Steering Hard

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have a question about the steering on a 98 Tahoe. I am working on my bosses truck, so any help would be great. The truck is having a really hard time turning left and right. Its not all that smooth either throughout lock to lock. The steering gear has been replaced along with just about every other suspension/steering piece after the gearbox. The only thing left is the pump and the shaft off the streering wheel. The pump is not making any noise at all. Does anybody know what is causing the hard steering??

Thanks again

Phil

it probly has steer sen. steer. harder to steer when at higher speeds and easy steer when parking. remove pump and install standard steerpump. all problems should disappear.

The steering gear play adjustment could be too tight.

It did it before the steering gear was installed. I replaced the gear because it had a huge crack down the side of it and would not hold fluid. I have a reman pump i will try installing next. Anybody installed one before? is it all that hard? Does not look TO bad!
