Ifs Limited Slip

I have a 2003 GMC Sierra and was wondering if it is possible to install a limited slip like the Detroit True Trac, into the IFS ? If so, is there any drawbacks on running a limited slip as far as steering, handling and excessive driveline and steering ware ? I have had a lot of good experiences using True Tracs and lockers in both front and rear solid axles on various Jeeps and trucks in the past, but this is the first time I have ever owned a IFS vehicle and confused on what can and cannot be done to these vehicles. Thanks.

Throughout my looking for a rear locker to replace the G80 junk, I have seen several but not really looked into any further details. It sure looks like they are out there though. Hopefully me posting on this will put it up top the list again and someone who really knows for sure can chime in...

Well, I have looked into this before as well but the more I researched the more negative things i found. First off having a limited slip will strain the front end parts such as the tierod ends. If you also plan on upgrading the front end to withstand the extra strain put on by a limited slip it might hold up. A friend of mine had a limited slip in his 02 Silverado with stock front end, he ended up breaking his right tierod end going up a hill. The thing is that whenever the front tires are forced to spin together (because of a locker or lsd) then they tend to want to push out and literally want to come off the truck therefore if your components in the front are not built to handle this they might end up breaking just like my friends. Now this also depends on how hard you are going to wheel your truck. Anyway just my .02 hope it helps.

Just so you get an idea this is the kind of damage that happens when you put in a limited slip or a locker (though im not sure thats why this vehicles broke I am just posting the videos to show you what you can expect to happen to your front end)
